THE SCIENCE OF FISHBONE TWEEZERS
Some years ago, it was generally felt that "a knife was a knife" and there was a limit to what one should pay for this basic cutting tool.
However, Global knives have, over the past 20 odd years, redefined kitchen knives in terms of performance and persuaded more and more people to spend that little bit extra in order to enjoy the rewards of extra sharpness and durability.
It is to be expected that people would also believe that "a fishbone tweezer is a fishbone tweezer" merely having to perform its basic task of removing bones from fish.
The Japanese, being a fish-loving nation, know better!
There are many different kinds of fish, with different characteristics and different bone structures. There are soft bones and hard bones, brittle and tough bones, making quite a science of what is the perfect edge and the perfect tool to remove them. Furthermore, the springiness of the tweezers, both originally and after years of service, is an important factor in use.
These new fishbone tweezers from Global have been specially developed to suit all kinds of fish - those with soft bones or brittle ones which will easilybe cut or broken when using simpler tweezers with pointed ends.
The secret here is that the "nipping face" of the tweezers is more than 1.8mm wide, which we have calculated to be the optimum to deal with all kinds of bones without fracture.
At the same time, these tweezers are made from extra thick, 3mm material, giving added strength and enabling the springness to be retained for much longer.
